VA Fashion Week Goes "GREEN"!
* Eco-Friendly designers will be featured as a prominent part of the event: Designers using organic and/or recycled fabrics, environmentally friendly manufacturing and presentation will be given the opportunity to show at a reduced or free cost.
* Environmentally friendly products will be used for hair & makeup: We will make the special effort to use brands containing natural and whenever possible organic ingredients and that do not test on animals.
* Recycling Receptacles will be available throughout the event so all paper products, cans and bottles can be properly recycled.
* Organic food products will be spotlighted: Caterers/food venders offering organic and natural selections will be given a priority.
* Environmentally friendly and energy efficient products will be used for lighting, sound, and sets when available.
* Green businesses and retailers will be offered a discounted rate on booth space.
* Tips for a “Green” lifestyle will be offered in the program and during the event.
* Recycled and/or environmentally friendly paper goods will be used in making the program and printed materials.
Giving Back!
* VA Fashion Week will establish a scholarship fund for Virginia students who excel in the arts and plan on pursuing a career in any of the following areas: Fashion Design, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Advertising, Media Communications, Arts Education. VA Fashion week plans to donate $25 from each booth sale towards the scholarship fund.
* Any designers or sponsors can donate an item or service to be auctioned for the charity of their choice. This will be done in a silent auction with bids accepted online and on paper at the event. Charities already mentioned include the American Heart Association, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, as well as organizations working with diabetes, cancers, and AIDS.
* Non-profit organizations can apply for free booth space during the event.
